Dear readers
Last night, I was asked by Sok Teoh to join whatsapp. It is a program that allows all the parents to join in a conversation. What a great idea from Sok Teoh. Sok Teoh is able to give everyone instant updates on the phone. Must remember this for the Under 17s.
Every day is a learning process.
I was woken up at 630 am by the sound of the incoming messages from Whatsapp.
The chats have been coming in thick and fast. I have to ask Sok Teoh how to copy the whole chat messages to my laptop so I can just put them in the blog. The chats shows how excited and concerned the parents are with the team performance. Lots of prayers are being sent especially by Mary Lou Nichols.
Xiang and KC took the first point by beating NSW Boys Double 21/10, 21/15. That was an easy win and the first for KC at National level. It should do him well for his singles.
Gerimay and Louise then gets on the court but their nerves fail and they fall at 7/21. They settle their nerves and get the 2nd set at 26/24. However they could not capitalise on an early lead and went down fighting at 19/21.
KC gets an easy first national singles game at 21/5 and 21/10.
Xiang also gets an easy first singles game winning 21/13 and 21/6.
Gerimay gets her first singles game and does not do well at 15/21. Sok Teoh gives us a running commentary on the score while the parents continue their chats. Kok Keong Wan says he is having a heart attack. Imagine if you are there Kok Keong.
I have been there before and I had to stay outside the stadium and watch the game from a window.
Geri May's mum starts praying but Geri May loses the 2nd set at 18/21. She has tried her best.
Louise also does not do well going down 7/21 and 10/21 in her first national singles. Never mind, chalk it down to experience.
Jasper and Daphne are playing next in their first national. Parents are feeling nervous from the chats messages.
Jasper and Daphne win the first set at 21/18. They get to 20/11 but lose 3 points in a row before closing the game at 21/13. What a relief to the team.
Xiang and Geri May win easily at 21/4 and 21/7. This should give Geri May some confidence for her next match.
Question? How is Sok Teoh, coaching, chatting, and managing all at the same time. He must be a genius.
A good 5/3 first win for a team where only Xiang and Geri May has had national experience.
Louise has to forget the morning's event and focus on the next match against Vic 1.
